Just coming back from a nice relaxing weekend after the hustle and bustle of graduation. As the weather gets warmer and memorial day is approaching I figured today I'd put up an animation created last summer, which I did music for, about a nice day at a bbq ;)

Graduate with a Bachelor's in Music!
I, Zhaniece Springer, (Zha) am now a proud graduate of the University of the Arts!
Today I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in music, majoring in composition and minoring in music education. It was definitely a struggle and I couldn't have made it without all the love and support around me every day of my life.
A special shoutout to my wonderful collaborator and boyfriend Chris Airgood, an animation major I've done a lot of work with who also graduated with me today. His work ethic is a wonderful inspiration for me to keep on going everyday. I think we make an awesome team :)
Here's to all the exciting new music now coming out as I work on my professional career! If you like what I'm doing, please just let me know you're out there watching and or listening to it. Comment, like, even dislike, but most of all it's nice to know there's an audience out there to start off with. (Maybe I'll even start doing requests at some point)
I'm sure many people have noticed there's a new Facebook page I've set up to separate the music from regular personal Facebook. It's called "Music a la Zha" you may have gotten there from here. In either case the music will be put up somehow. So please enjoy the progression from things I've worked on throughout my four years here leading up to some cool and exciting new stuff!

Senior Recital Prep!
Okay finally getting to serious business with recital preparation. I'm really excited :D Met with drummer the other day, and met with the wonderful pianist Kye Sun Kim the day after that.
It's so wonderful working with real people, and such talented artists at that. One of the best things is getting immediate feedback. Computers don't talk back ;) And I like a little talk back every now and then. Also pushing myself to really perform again.
Yes, music isn't meant to stay within the boundaries of your bedroom. It isn't nearly as fun then. So I can't wait for the weeks to progress as I meet up with more people and bring this dream to fruition. Countdown to senior recital starts now!
BTW senior recital is April 27th! Be there :D

Kontakt!
Finally able to get kontakt as well as so many other things to work on my computer now! So I'm excited and will hopefully be able to put up much more in terms of music now. Here's a short song of storms cover I just finished on sound cloud
song of storms cover 1
It's something I started a long time ago and finally put up. A softer kind of music boxy inspired cover. Since he plays it on that cool device.

Last semester
Ok I'm terrible at keeping up to date on things, but I finally remembered I have a blog, so carrying on!
Last semester of college, and one of the most exciting things is the upcoming senior recital! April 27th at Caplan hall, 17th floor of terra :) Hope to see any and all there. I'll post more about that later, but now really trying to get things together for that. It'll be eclectic to say the least.
Possibly starting off with a mariachi-esque fanfare type song, tropical pieces, pieces based off a hypothetical video game, personal projects and so much more. Remember that's April 27th, as of now 7pm but trying to get that pushed to 8pm.

western music
It scarily feels like summer is coming to an end. That last month is rearing up and while it makes me nervous I don't feel as bad as previous years. I finally have been productive. Not as much as I'd like but at least I've gotten some stuff done. Been doing a lot of research preparing for Chris' senior thesis. I've been looking up music on spaghetti westerns which has been quite interesting. Yesterday I finished a great read about, "The Good, the bad, and the ugly." A great movie and the book provided some great insight. I've also been looking into the music from the video game red dead redemption. There are certain tracks in particular that I've been asked to emulate so I've been getting my feet plenty wet and tried sketching some ideas out today. Hopefully he likes them. It's been fun incorporating real instruments again.
